Also known as the Mercenary Amazon (Amazona mercenarius), this shy bird might be threatened due to deforestation, however, exact numbers are not known. Found in tropical to temperate forests in Bolvia and Peru, and on both sides of the Andes from Ecuador to Columbia, these private parrots keep to pairs or small groups, nesting in inaccessible areas.
